Team Leader I
I. POSITION SUMMARY
A. Coordinates the activities of team members in the assigned area, which facilitates the safe and efficient production of products that meet the required specifications and quality standards. The Team Leader also communicates with area management regarding production, safety and personnel matters.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The section is not intended to be an all-inclusive list and NGK Ceramics reserves the right to include other duties as assigned):
A. Promotes safety, quality, efficiency and productivity in the department and serves as a primary link between team members and area management
B. Guides, directs and assists team members throughout all processes within the department
C. Communicates the requirements and expectations of area management to the team members
D. Checks, corrects and maintains the data entered into the company's information systems
E. Teaches troubleshooting, problem solving and team building skills to the team members; and teaches team members about the area's immediate processes and also all prior and successive processes relating to our product
F. Ensures that product quality and quantity objectives are met
G. Informs and consults with area management concerning work related and personnel issues in a timely manner
H. Assists maintenance and engineering with projects and with routine repairs
I. Assists in the hiring process through: interviews, area tours and informational dissemination, etc.
J. Monitors inventory levels and maintains the appropriate inventories
K. Communicates safety discrepancies or issues to the Team Coordinator or Area Manager
L. May input maintenance work orders through Solar Soft information system
M. Reviews internal email and calendar system several times per shift
N. Participates in PM (Preventive Maintenance), MMOL (Machine Maintenance Operator Leader), and 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), and Kaizen activities, as needed
O. Follows all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures, including the disposal of waste and used materials
P. This job has no supervisory responsibilities and no direct reports.

IV. REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A. Required Education and/or Experience
1. Must be able to successfully complete all required job training
2. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
B. Required Language Skills
1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
2. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
3. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers.
C. Required Mathematical Skills
1. Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
D. Required Reasoning Ability
1. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
2. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
E. Preferred Qualifications
1. Fork Lift License and Pallet Jack License
2. Extensive background check may be required.
3. Knowledge of database software; inventory software; manufacturing software; spreadsheet software; and word processing software
V. PHYSICAL DEMANDS (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

C. The employee may occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. The employee may be required to occasionally use a pallet jack to move 400-500 pounds.
D. The employee may be required to successfully pass scheduled testing for vision, hearing, respirator fitting and spirometry.
VI. WORK ENVIRONMENT
A. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions; work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme heat; and vibration.
B. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; and occasionally loud.
VII. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS/PPE
A. Hearing protection may be required in designated areas.
B. Respirators, half mask cartridge respirators plus goggles, or full face cartridge respirators may be required in designated areas or under prescribed work conditions.
C. Safety glasses, safety googles and/or face shield may be required while performing certain job duties.
D. Chemical resistant suits, PVC aprons and/or chemical resistant boot covers may be required while performing certain job duties.
E. Regularly scheduled testing may be performed for: lung capacity (i.e. spirometry test), vision, hearing, and respirator fit.
