The University Police Department exists as a support unit to the university for the purpose of establishing and maintaining an atmosphere in which people can go safely about their varied activities. To include Community Policing concepts that will function and communicate effectively within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities and cultural backgrounds. The position must focus on the sensitivity to the needs of diverse people and demonstrates the ability to respect differences. Enforcing state laws and university policies for the purposes of maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the campus. Physical protection of University assets. Enhancing the quality of campus life by working with individuals and groups of individuals to identify solutions to problems. Conducting criminal investigations and preparing cases for the appropriate venue.
